Sample Size Minimums (depending on # of tests):
- Full Health Canada Panels use 35g of flower
- Dried Cannabis per test: 2g–3g
- Concentrates / Extracts: 1g–3g
Canvas Laboratory holds a Health Canada license for analytical testing of cannabis. Looking for product release testing? Our Full Health Canada Panel test package can be used by Licensed Producers when they're ready to send their next product or batch to market.
Absolutely! Feel free to stop by during regular business hours, Monday to Friday 9am–5pm. Our buzzer number is 1004. Samples can also be sent via mail or courier.
Place an order and we'll provide a Canada Post shipping label. Please package samples in an airtight container or vacuum package, as Canada Post may intercept shipments with an obvious cannabis odor. Please include a completed Chain of Custody (COC) form with the sample(s).
Turnaround depends on the number of tests and samples submitted. Potency results are usually available in 2–3 business days. More extensive testing can take 3–5 business days. Health Canada Full Panel testing generally takes around 5 business days.

Required sample size varies depending on requested testing. Providing a representative sample is crucial to accurate results — pull parts from different areas of your batch. Recommended for basic potency testing: Flower 2–3 grams, Oil/Concentrates/Extracts 1 gram.
In accordance with Health Canada, submitted samples cannot be returned. Unused remaining sample materials are kept on-hand for 2–4 weeks after testing before being destroyed.
We use an ICP-MS for heavy metals analysis and report on Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead and Mercury. Reporting on additional heavy metals is available on request.
We test for propane, isobutane, butane, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, hexane, heptane, and pentane. Reach out if there's something else you're looking for.
We recommend inquiring about pesticide testing with our Client Care Specialists. Cannabis on the legal market has already passed the Health Canada compliant 96 banned pesticide analysis prior to release, so 2.0 products made from this cannabis may not require further testing.
We analyze and report on 39 different terpenes. Our Certificate of Analysis includes icons for the three most prominent aromas based on the sample's terpene profile.
